“Digital Currencyco Crypto Currency Trading”

Some cryptocurrencies, such as Litecoin or Dogecoin, fulfil the same purpose as bitcoin – building a new digital currency – with tweaks to some of the details (making transactions faster, for instance, or ensuring a basic level of inflation).

Haber noted that the community of cryptographers is very small: about three hundred people a year attend the most important conference, the annual gathering in Santa Barbara. In all likelihood, Nakamoto belonged to this insular world. If I wanted to find him, the Crypto 2011 conference would be the place to start.

As a cryptocurrency attracts more interest, mining becomes harder and the amount of coins received as a reward decreases. For example, when Bitcoin was first created, the reward for successful mining was 50 BTC. Now, the reward stands at 12.5 Bitcoins. This happened because the Bitcoin network is designed so that there can only be a total of 21 mln coins in circulation.

Or this speculative bubble could end with a crash so severe that it destroys faith in the entire sector, driving the investors out, bankrupting the miners who’ve spent thousands or millions on single-purpose hardware that requires a high bitcoin price to turn a profit, and leaving cryptocurrencies as a technological dead-end alongside cold fusion and jetpacks.

But if you are planning to commit financial crime, store illegal downloads, or host pirated videos a decentralised version of those services becomes much more appealing. That’s why bitcoin, for instance, has become the currency of choice for online drug dealers and cybercriminals demanding ransoms to restore hacked data.

I.e. Grandparents who think they are comfortably set for the next 10-20 years until they check-out are very concerned that this new internet money is coming and they don’t have any of it. Not only that, they don’t understand what it is or why they need it, and they aren’t going to start anytime soon.

You people need to wake up to the truth in what you call “FUD”. Simply getting so angry serves no purpose at all. If such people are so hopelessly wrong, then why not just ignore them. Because the real truth is hard to ignore?

The BTC protocol still works. The network hasn’t lost integrity. The math still checks out. And the few remaining mining operations doing so in secret are still processing transactions. And you can’t ban math. Due to exchanges being illegal, a ban would only increase the scarcity of bitcoin. That would skyrocket the value of bitcoin. But since BTC to fiat conversions would be impossible, it’s value wouldn’t be measured in fiat numbers. Instead, it would be measured by what people are willing to transact with it.

Thanks to Satoshi Nakamoto’s designs, Bitcoin mining becomes more difficult as more miners join the fray. In 2009, a miner could mine 200 Bitcoin in a matter of days. In 2014, it would take approximately 98 years to mine just one, according to 99Bitcoins.

The price of Bitcoin has hit record highs in recent months, more than doubling in price since the start of the year. Despite these gains, Bitcoin is on the verge of losing its position as the dominant virtual currency.

As with any other investment, you need to pay close attention to the cryptocurrencies’ market value and to any news related to them. Coinmarketcap is a one-stop solution for tracking the price, volume, circulation supply and market cap of most existing cryptocurrencies.

Yawn this dinosaur needs too shut up and go too sleep he don’t got enough time too live anyway so… who cares I didn’t read it cause one he’s clueless two who gives a shit what he think we as Americans don’t care

In November, the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology touted a lecture from a bitcoin expert who came to North Korea to teach students about the technology behind the digital currency. The university is a high-profile institution where scions of the North Korean elite study.

NEO, previously called “Antshares,” is often called the “Chinese Ethereum” because it has many of the same goals as Ethereum and is developed in China, unlike the majority of other cryptocurrencies that are developed in the U.S. or Europe. Being in China may also give it some advantages due to potentially improved relationships with both regulators and local Chinese businesses that may prefer adopting it over a Western cryptocurrency.

So in 2013, he built his own cryptocurrency, a satirical mash-up that combined Bitcoin with the Doge meme he’d seen on social media. Mr. Palmer hoped to use Dogecoin to show the absurdity of wagering huge sums of money on unstable ventures.

While cryptocurrencies are digital currencies that are managed through advanced encryption techniques, many governments have taken a cautious approach toward them, fearing their lack of central control and the effects they could have on financial security.[77] Regulators in several countries have warned against cryptocurrency and some have taken concrete regulatory measures to dissuade users.[78] Additionally, many banks do not offer services for cryptocurrencies and can refuse to offer services to virtual-currency companies.[79] While traditional financial products have strong consumer protections in place, there is no intermediary with the power to limit consumer losses if bitcoins are lost or stolen.[80] One of the features cryptocurrency lacks in comparison to credit cards, for example, is consumer protection against fraud, such as chargebacks.

In July 2014, the New York State Department of Financial Services proposed the most comprehensive regulation of virtual currencies to date, commonly called BitLicense.[34] Unlike the US federal regulators it has gathered input from bitcoin supporters and the financial industry through public hearings and a comment period until 21 October 2014 to customize the rules. The proposal per NY DFS press release “sought to strike an appropriate balance that helps protect consumers and root out illegal activity”.[35] It has been criticized by smaller companies to favor established institutions, and Chinese bitcoin exchanges have complained that the rules are “overly broad in its application outside the United States”.[36]

Cryptocurrencies are used primarily outside existing banking and governmental institutions and are exchanged over the Internet. While these alternative, decentralized modes of exchange are in the early stages of development, they have the unique potential to challenge existing systems of currency and payments. As of December 2017 total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies is bigger than 600 billion USD and record high daily volume is larger than 500 billion USD.[38]

All these years of failing to modernise, thinking there is no threat to your model just isn’t true, is it? Our hero, Mr Satoshi Nakamoto has thrown a spanner in the works. You should Google him, he is kinda cool, though if you see some stuff about this guy Craig Wright, it isn’t him, don’t worry, he’s just some ridiculous man who pretended to be Satoshi.

In what world has any technology only been used soley for good, legal, activities? Criminals use computers, cell phones, etc. The internet itself supports trillions of $ worth of illegal activities. If the ban/illegalize logic is based on use of XYZ by criminals, many things “should be illegal”… there’s not many ways to eliminate criminals from profiting from technology. Many countries have death penalty for dealing drugs, yet there are those willing to PROFIT and risk their life, it’s human nature.

The Danish government proposed getting rid of the obligation for selected retailers to accept payment in cash, moving the country closer to a “cashless” economy.[46] The Danish Chamber of Commerce is backing the move.[47] Nearly a third of the Danish population uses MobilePay, a smartphone application for transferring money.[46]

First things first, buying and selling Bitcoin isn’t even remotely close to being the same as using the stock exchange to purchase or sell stocks. On the same note, it isn’t anything like FOREX and should never be considered the same thing.

In February 2014, cryptocurrency headlines due to the world’s largest bitcoin exchange, Mt. Gox, declaring bankruptcy. The company stated that it had lost nearly $473 million of their customer’s bitcoins likely due to theft. This was equivalent to approximately 750,000 bitcoins, or about 7% of all the bitcoins in existence. Due to this crisis, among other news, the price of a bitcoin fell from a high of about $1,160 in December to under $400 in February.[55]

With EOS, you can also roll back changes to fix serious bugs if a supermajority of users agree to the changes. Presumably, this is done to avoid the same situation that created Ethereum Classic and the new Ethereum fork.

F**** miners, buying out hardware and causing shortages at suppiliers. Some douchebag who probably didnt even make a math to see if its profitable for him and makes a mining ring “cus its coool” buys out all GPU’s and then people cant finish their simple gaming builds.

“This late 2017 campaign is a continuation of North Korea’s interest in cryptocurrency, which we now know encompasses a broad range of activities including mining, ransomware, and outright theft,” Recorded Future researchers Juan Andres Guerrero-Saade and Priscilla Moriuchi wrote.

  1. The difference is that Tether is backed by the generally more stable USD, while the DGD token is backed by another commodity, gold, which is quite volatile itself. However, the gold volatility happens on much larger time-frames than the volatility cryptocurrencies see on a daily basis, so it could still make sense to use it as a relatively stable store of value.

I’m only sharing my investment thesis and approach here to help decipher the emerging digital/crypto currency landscape. This is not investment advice.
